Insights from our Fall Intern

At Bridgeworth, we give back to the next generation of financial planning professionals by hiring interns each year. We focus on providing our interns a meaningful work experience, so they leave with a better understanding of what it means to be a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.  Tanner Fields, a senior at Samford University, interned with us this fall. Tanner has a bright future and we’re looking forward to watching his career.

As a rising senior at Samford University, I began looking into serious internship opportunities that would hold a significant amount of weight in shaping my future in financial services. I had the joy of conversing with several Bridgeworth advisors and staff members last Spring that ultimately led to an internship opportunity in the private wealth management space. I have uncovered a strong passion and desire to hear the stories of others and help make their financial goals possible through meaningful interactions, careful planning, and uplifting conversations.

Interning with Bridgeworth this fall has opened my eyes to the firm’s culture and compassion they carry out every single day for both their clients and their team members. My internship was led by advisors and staff members who taught me the necessary lessons and keystrokes of wealth planning.

I spent hours shadowing the planning team, investment committee, advisors, and planning coordinators to relish in what the true day-to-day operations consisted of at a prominent wealth management firm. Additionally, receiving the opportunity to create a financial plan for a mock client and present back to senior management was one of the most valuable projects of the semester. The plan taught me the importance of cash flow analysis, depicting a unique and appropriate investment allocation based on risk tolerance, and strategic retirement planning for all seasons of life.

Bridgeworth has truly laid an incredible foundation of tangible knowledge and insight that I believe is extremely difficult for college students and young professionals to discover elsewhere. I plan to graduate in May of 2022, sit for the CFP exam shortly after, and begin adding value to the financial planning industry in any way that I can.
