In the Spring of 2023, I was completing an undergraduate degree and preparing for a Master’s program in Consumer Science at the University of Alabama. I knew broadly what the financial industry had to offer, but I needed more direction and experience to point me towards the best career and future for me. I was filled with uncertainty with what my post graduate plans would look like and began to search for the path that would suit me best. I quickly learned about Bridgeworth Wealth Management because of their reputation and involvement on campus. I reached out to hear more and set up an informational meeting with Jonathan Millican. After one call with him, I knew that I could find purpose and fulfillment with the Financial Planning industry and decided to apply for an internship for the Summer of 2023.
This past summer at Bridgeworth has been one of the most beneficial and eye-opening experiences. Everyone was so welcoming and more than willing to share their knowledge and guidance with me. William Hocutt was my main point of contact throughout the summer; he always offered new information and teaching moments through projects, assignments, and collaborations. Each person I worked with took the time to explain new things and made sure that I gained valuable experience during my time in the office.
Speaking to advisors, observing firm operations, and creating a financial plan for a mock client are just a few of the opportunities I had to expand on my knowledge and understanding.
Interning with Bridgeworth has taught me more than I thought possible and has even aided me in my graduate program. This experience has solidified my decision to enter the Financial Planning industry and sit for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ exam after graduation next May. Financial planning and advising offers a unique opportunity to combine a career with compassion for clients and I cannot wait to see where it leads!
