In 2014, Bridgeworth introduced our Holiday Giving Campaign not only as a way to thank our clients for their continued trust and confidence, but to also  to give them a choice in which organization we support in their honor. Due to the overwhelming positive responses, we are bringing back the campaign for 2015. While there are numerous deserving organizations in our community, we have chosen three that have special meaning to the Bridgeworth members. These organizations have touched the lives of our families and clients this past year and we are proud to support each.

  • ALS Alabama – ALS was first discovered in 1869, but it wasn’t until 1939 that Lou Gehrig brought national and international attention to the disease which is still most closely associated with his name. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.  The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to death. The Alabama Chapter was founded in late 2004 to serve the needs of those living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and their caregivers.
  • Higher Academics Summer School – The Higher Academics Summer School is a four-week summer academic “boot camp” for high achieving high school students from across Alabama’s Black Belt region. Founded in 2011 by two Teach for America teachers in Sumter County, HASS provides intensive and rigorous academic instruction, leadership development, and exposure to higher education opportunities. The goal of HASS is to create well-rounded students who possess the academic and leadership skills necessary to be competitive applicants to a four-year college or university.
  • The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama – The Ronald McDonald House cares for 41 guest families every night, providing them with a home away from home while their children receive medical treatment. In addition to providing a comfortable bedroom, families are surrounded with love and support from volunteers, staff and other guest families who share the same hopes and fears. RMDHC also provides home-cooked meals, activities, indoor and outdoor play areas, laundry facilities, computers, WiFi, and much more so that guest families can concentrate on what is most important — family.

We hope you will check back each week for a spotlight feature on each of these organization, the impact they are having on our community, and how our Bridgeworth family is personally involved. The Bridgeworth social media channels will feature more personal stories and photos from these nonprofits highlighting how each is striving to bridge a need gap in our community.

Happy Holidays from all your friends at Bridgeworth!
